Abstract

In this paper, I aim to analyse the approach that guides the process of externalisation of European migration policies. Specifically, I am interested in defining the causes and consequences of the process, taking as the object of study its main political strategy, the externalization of border control. Through the analysis of theoretical documents, as well as the use of press media and official documents emanating from actors involved in the process, I construct a narrative around the understanding of what approach guides the action of European actors with the main objective of understanding the possible causes and political consequences of the process of externalization of migration policies.
